There’s a reason why “Community” is one of our company’s core values, it’s at the heart of everything we do. We strongly believe in giving back to our community, which is why we host blood drives and donate time and money to a variety of charities, churches, and non-profit organizations, including ALS, Toys For Tots, Houston Food Bank, B.E.A.R., and many others.
Our employees are what makes our company wonderful and their generosity is what makes the difference. We encourage our entire organization to participate in charity events and donate monetarily when they are able, and we often top off the effort with company matching. We’re proud to be a part of the Houston community and encourage everyone to get involved or donate to local and national efforts.
Below are just a few of the charities we’ve worked with over the years. If you have one you’d like us to look into, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Star of Hope
Our employees raised funds for clothing and back to school necessities. “When the children arrive at the shelter with their family, they’re in a crisis situation, often experiencing trauma and uncertainty,” said Star of Hope President and CEO, Hank Rush. “As we all remember, the first day of school can be traumatic in its own right. We try to make their transitions as smooth as possible by providing them with everything they need to blend in with their classmates.“ To help TGS with this effort, one of our partners, Dish Network, donated 50 backpacks towards our “Fill a Backpack, Fill a Need” program to help insure children in the Star of Hope program have the best start to the New Year they can have.
Be a Resource Houston (B.E.A.R.)
B.E.A.R. is a local Houston-based organization whose mission is to provide hope and help for abused and neglected children in our area. These children are in the care of CPS programs, with many being removed under emergency conditions. In 2019 and 2020, we adopted over 175 kids to provide Christmas gifts to make the holidays a bit more cheerful. Our organization raised funds to fulfill every Christmas wishlist from each child, with items including bikes, clothing, games, and more.
Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center
Our employees generously donate blood and platelets during blood drives hosted onsite at the office throughout the year, benefiting Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. Damon Diamantaras, our CEO, said “Our ability to rise up and adhere to our corporate value of Community says a lot about the people that work in this organization. We saved 78 lives with the donations, and that’s a true sense of giving back.”
Our employees walked and ran for Maddie’s Mission – CMV Awareness. The “Save a Baby Today” race was held in Katy, TX to help raise awareness about CMV and funds for CMV research. CMV is a common virus that is harmless to most, but can cause disability when passed to an unborn child. CMV is the most common congenital viral infection in the United States, according to the CDC.
Be An Angel
Our amazing employees raised funds for hearing aids during our TGS Christmas fundraiser. The funds went towards purchasing hearing aids for children in financially challenged families.
Texas Children’s Hospital
We make a life-changing difference in the health of children and women from Houston, from Texas and from around the world.
Cypress Cares for the Troops
To show our appreciation, the TGS Fun Squad made 100 care packages for the military.
Casa de Esperanza
